Major Russian Strikes Disrupt Power Throughout Kyiv

Power facilities targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and dealt with disruption to drinking water, as stated by municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was lost their life in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by local officials.

Moscow has increased attacks on power infrastructure over the past few days, while officials has called for "substantial measures" from allies to apply pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles targeted energy facilities, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and repair crews were laboring to restore power.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the city have been transported for medical care, per statements from municipal representatives.

Area administrators said the urban area came under significant strikes during nighttime hours. A minor was killed and multiple civilians were injured.

The assaults follow periods of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which are occupied by invading troops.

The entire country is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the national power system, with assaults already affecting energy systems.

He said technical personnel and officials were bracing for more assaults.
